Greetings Fellow CREW-St. Louis Members,

Happy New Year CREW-St. Louis! I am honored to serve as your President in 2018!

By way of background, I am a partner with the law firm Herzog Crebs LLP. I have more than 20 years’ experience in commercial real estate law. And my roots with CREW-St. Louis run deep as well, dating back to 2002 when I became a member. It’s been quite a journey as I relished my participation on several committees, including Sponsorship Chair and Golf Tournament Chair. I also learned so much by serving on the Executive Board as a Director, Delegate and President-Elect. I mention this mainly to encourage all of you to expand your skills and enhance your membership benefits by becoming involved in our Chapter’s many opportunities.

Today, we stand as the premiere networking organization for women in the commercial real estate industry thanks to so many other great leaders who built a solid foundation. Of course, this includes our 2017 President, Angie Earlywine. I extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Angie for her wisdom, thoughtfulness and dedication in leading our chapter. Under her guidance, we took our chapter to the next level, and I am honored to carry the torch forward.

Fortunately, I do not carry this torch alone. I am blessed with a great team to help lead CREW-St. Louis. Your Executive and Advisory Board will play an integral role in carrying out our chapter’s bold initiatives in 2018. We convened in December to set priorities and plot our course for implementing our strategic plan this year to further our mission.

We remain resolute in this mission. CREW-St. Louis advances, educates and supports women to influence the commercial real estate industry. While we have come a long way in achieving this, the journey is far from over. We refuse to settle for the status quo.

That is why we have chosen the theme of DISRUPT for 2018. This theme not only further establishes our footprint throughout the St. Louis region but also aligns with CREW Network. This alliance with CREW Network extends our value and our strength in a common cause with more than 10,000 members on an international scale.

Mentoring will be a big part of this theme as we DISRUPT  by advancing, educating and supporting our members. Imagine the powerful presence of our organization, the sheer years of experience and expertise. Just realize the value of so many members with more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate! Why not tap into this resource to solve problems, build business, enhance careers, celebrate achievements and even just to have a friendly, empathetic voice during challenging times. Our Member Services Committee and a task force are working diligently to roll out our pilot mentorship program this year. Stay tuned for more information.

We also can further our mission by making a donation to the CREW Network Foundation. As the philanthropic arm of CREW Network, the foundation grants scholarships to women pursuing degrees and careers in commercial real estate. Its research arms us – and the industry – with valuable benchmarking and white papers that mark progress and obstacles. And its career outreach programs ready the next generation of leaders to carry on our vital mission.

I encourage you to leverage this network by taking full advantage of your membership benefits. Attend our programs and member meetings. Serve on our committees and in leadership roles. Become a mentor and reach out to support your fellow members. By empowering each other, we collectively can cause more DISRUPTION in our industry than any of us could accomplish on our own in 2018!

Best Regards,

Lynn Goessling
