Nothing like a good meal and lively conversation to further unite people. And that’s exactly what took place during our annual Dine-Arounds held from August 6-28.
One of our chapter’s greatest traditions, members took the opportunity to network in smaller, more casual groups. They also enjoyed many of the area’s fine restaurants while having fun and connecting with other members. As a result, this rates as one of the favorite events of the year for many members.
This year held a record number of events at 32 Dine-Arounds. These were held at varying times of the day - breakfast, lunch, happy hour and/or dinner.
Ambassador’s Committee Chair Ellen Manion notes, “While there were a select few dinners hosted this year, we tried to focus more on happy hours versus dinners to increase the amount of conversation this year.”
Hosts selected venues such as Billy G's in Kirkwood, Copia in Clayton, Rosalita's in Des Peres, Charlie Gittos in Chesterfield, The Shack in Frontenac, Clove & Bee in Webster Groves, EdgeWild Bistro & Tap in Creve Coeur, Fridas in University City and many others. This gave members many opportunities to find the right time and place to enjoy time with their colleagues.
Dine-Around host Molly Studer says, “The Dine-Around I hosted was a great time. We had a good turnout, despite a torrential downpour, and enjoyed an hour of casual networking and conversation!”
CREW-St. Louis’ National Delegate and host of a breakfast Dine-Around, Tracy Howren, comments, “Dine-Arounds are one of my favorite parts of being involved with CREW-St. Louis. They provide a great opportunity to connect with fellow CREW-St. Louis members in a smaller group setting, allowing members to learn more about one another. This deeper dive in getting to know one another often leads to members sharing opportunities and experiences, and to finding ways to work together. To me, this is the essence of CREW-St. Louis, and it is a great way for us to fulfill our mission.”
In addition to the traditional Dine-Arounds held this year, CREW-St. Louis President Lynn Goessling hosted an Encore Dine-Around on Wednesday, Aug. 22. The event included a cocktail reception held on the beautiful patio of Seven Gables in Clayton.
CREW- St. Louis played host to a special guest this year at the encore event, Sharon Herrin of Herrin Commercial Real Estate. Sharon is a representative from the CREW Network Board of Directors and serves as a liaison to our CREW-St. Louis chapter.
Howren adds, “I had a great time at our Encore Dine-Around at Seven Gables. It was great connecting with fellow members and getting to know our CREW Network Board liaison, Sharron Herrin. She gave us some great perspective on all of the exciting things going on at the Network level, and how the Network is working hard to support its chapters in meaningful ways. As a bonus, the event took place on a beautiful patio on an unusually cooler summer night, and the food was great too!”
Our special guest Sharon Herrin comments, “Thank you, CREW-St. Louis, for the great Dine-Around reception at the Seven Gables Inn. It was a perfect, cool weather evening and fantastic way to recognize your leadership and participation in our CREW Global Network. Members received an update on the CREW Network Marketplace and Convention in San Diego Oct. 17-19, and heard about the new CREWbiz technology and ways to leverage it for their business and to connect with our 11,000 members.”
Herrin adds, “Thank you for allowing me to tell you my CREW story and journey that helped me in launching Herrin Commercial Real Estate! Thank you to your Board for the lovely lunch at The Panorama Restaurant at the St. Louis Museum of Art and for the hospitality of all members. I will definitely meet you in St. Louis anytime!”
