Greetings fellow CREW-St. Louis members,
Countless CREW-St. Louis connections have been made over the past two months. In August, we had more than two dozen Dine Arounds
. We also had an exclusive project tour event with ULI, a happy hour with SIOR and our first annual trivia night
Thanks to our McCarthy connections, I recently spoke at the Anheuser-Busch Women Supporting Women panel and networking event. Some of the topics included: the benefits of having a stronger female network; handling a situation when not supported by another woman; actions to take to support women; female mentors and advice for and from mentors. Of course, one piece of great advice I received many years ago from my mentor was to join CREW-St. Louis. I also shared the advice that I learned at one of my first CREW conventions which was to take more risks.
In preparing for the panel and event, I was reminded of these tips on closing the aspiration gap:
- Honestly evaluate why you want to pursue advancement.
- Analyze the work/life balance.
- Become more comfortable with risk.
- Build relationships with supporters and sponsors.
These are found in the CREW Network white paper: “Closing the Gap: Addressing Gender Bias and Other Barriers for Women in Commercial Real Estate.” CREW Network just released its newest white paper: “Accelerating the Advancement of Women in Commercial Real Estate
.” To access and share these free resources, just go to: https://crewnetwork.org/about/research/white-papers
Several members recently attended the CREW Network Convention and Marketplace
, where networking opportunities included our St. Louis chapter dinner and the Coffee Talk app that matched members based on similar interests.
And, I hope to see you at our upcoming Annual Signature Event
with Maxine Clark on October 10th at Hotel Saint Louis as well as our Members-Only Business Meeting
on October 29th, where we will elect our 2020 board of directors. In November, we’ll also have a Speed Networking
event on November 12th. As you can see, lots more opportunities to connect!
Thank you for your membership, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
