President’s Message

Hello Fellow CREW-St. Louis Members!

It is hard to believe that summer is over, and one can find pumpkin spice just about everywhere! (Yes, I am a fan!).

While the seasons turn, we continue to build momentum, adding spice (pardon the pun) to the menu of our offerings. I am so proud of CREW-St. Louis and all that we have accomplished in just the past two months.

Our Communications Committee led by Jenna Knatt and Kirsten Malloy organized a hugely successful program called Psychology of Self Promotion, hosted by CI Select. We networked. We learned more on branding ourselves. We elevated our digital presence. We trained to up our email and interviewing skills.

The turnout for our 25th Annual Golf Classic set a record as we filled both courses at Norwood Hills Country Club.  We had a great day for golf, the evening happy hour and the raffle. Sponsors provided many delicious drinks and snacks throughout the day. People wanted to get outside and reconnect.

Besides our sold-out August Dine-Arounds, the 16th Annual CREW-St. Louis Networking Awards event occurred in late August after a hiatus last year. The day before the Awards event, after not feeling well, I decided to see the doctor. I also determined that, although testing negative, I would not be able to attend the event.  With little notice, I asked Stacey Kamps (President – Elect) to take my place. Showing strong resilience, neither Stacey nor the Awards Committee skipped a beat. They executed a wonderful event! It was also great that Tracy Howren (2020 President) could announce the 2020 Award Winners. Special thanks to Maxine Clark for being our Master of Ceremony and Courtney Miller for stepping in for Carolyn Kindle Betz, the recipient of our prestigious Woman of Influence honor! Congratulations to all our deserving Award winners!

Fall is proving to be equally as busy with our inaugural Sponsorship Vendor Fair at the offices of Growing Green and a Ballpark Village Tour/Happy Hour. Also, over 25 CREW St. Louis members are headed to the Global Network Convention in Las Vegas in late September for a few days of networking, personal and professional development and leadership training. When we return, it will be time for the CREW/SIOR Happy hour and our very important October Business Meeting where we vote in the 2022 Board of Directors. Shortly afterward, we look forward to hosting Carolyn Kindle Betz as our speaker for our Signature Event.

In between all these events, Mentors and Mentees are meeting and in-person events for Trivia night (which benefits the CREW Network Foundation), New Member Orientation and a DEI speaker event are being finalized. Committees are busy with social media posts, programming, education, and sponsor and member appreciation, all while being intentional with DEI efforts. Simply amazing that we have so many selfless volunteers who every day continue our mission to advance, educate and support women to influence the Commercial Real Estate industry.

Please review the CREW-St. Louis website. Spend a few moments marking your calendar for all the upcoming events. If you are like me, you do not want to miss a networking opportunity, especially during our great Fall weather. And consider joining a committee in 2022 to add your own spice to your membership!

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Nancy A. Petersen
