Thank you to Capes Sokol for this valuable industry information
As of January 2022, St. Louis City and St. Louis County have each implemented electric vehicle charging mandates
that require certain new construction and renovation projects to include electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Failure to comply can result in the denial of building permits and significant project delays. While these ordinances currently only affect projects in the city or in unincorporated St. Louis County, several municipalities are currently contemplating implementing similar ordinances. This article discusses (1) which projects are impacted by these ordinances; (2) what electric vehicle charging infrastructure is required for impacted projects; (3) a proposed state law that could essentially negate these ordinances; and (4) the incentives that are currently being offered by Ameren for electric vehicle charging at both commercial and multi-family properties.
